Kenwood's Excelon XM160-2-98 amplifier is designed to fit in a select fairing-equipped 1998-2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and power a couple of speakers with up to 80 watts RMS each. Kenwood optimized this 2-channel amp to match low-impedance, 2-ohm speakers like Harley-Davidson's factory speakers and Kenwood's Excelon XM motorsports aftermarket speakers.
The amp uses speaker-level inputs pre-matched and balanced for Harley-Davidson radios and almost any other aftermarket receiver or source unit. An input sensitivity control fine-tunes the level for minimum distortion. There are no onboard tone, EQ, or crossover controls on this amp — your system's head unit will take care of that kind of signal processing. This amp's one job is to produce power — and you'll know it when you hear your music playing loud and clear as you roll down the road.

Harley-Davidson Integration: The Kenwood XM160-2-98 is a 2-channel motorsports amplifier designed specifically for installation and integration into select 1998-2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The XM160-2-98 amplifier features input and output wiring that's designed to plug directly into the factory Harley-Davidson wiring.
Compatibility & Mounting (non-Road Glide): The Kenwood XM160-2-98 amplifier can be installed on top of the factory radio using the supplied patch of hook-and-loop fastener. Alternatively, you can mount the amp in the fairing between the radio and the brake-side speaker using an optional mounting plate (sold separately). If installing two XM160-2-98 amplifiers, one will need to be installed on top of the factory headunit and the other mounted in the fairing. Compatible model Harley-Davidsons include:

Compatibility & Mounting (Road Glide & Road Glide Ultra): The Kenwood XM160-2-98 amplifier can be installed in select Harley-Davidson Road Glide and Road Glide Ultra motorcycles. If installing a single XM160-2-98 amp, a mounting plate (sold separately) will be required. The mounting plate installs using the factory inner fairing mounting studs. If installing two XM160-2-98 amplifiers, one amp will mount as previously mentioned, while the 2nd amp will require a mounting plate (sold separately). This allows the 2nd amp to be mounted in the inner fairing on the brake side. Compatible model Harley-Davidsons include:

No Flashing Required: The Kenwood amplifier is tuned for the best performance with a stock Harley-Davidson headunit, letting you install the amp without the need for flashing the factory radio.
Power: The Kenwood XM160-2-98 amplifier can output 80W RMS (2Ω) x 2 channels.
Class D Design: The amplifier features a Class D design, which uses digital switching power supplies. The result is a more efficient amplifier, generating less heat than Class AB amps of equal power. The Class D design also allows the amplifier to be built on a small chassis, and installed where space is limited.
Signal Sensing: The amplifier has a signal-sensing turn-on circuit on the speaker level input. When a signal is detected on the speaker level inputs, the amplifier will automatically power on. When the signal is no longer detected, the amp will turn off. This allows you to install the amplifier without a remote turn-on lead.
Input Sensitivity Control: The XM160-2-98 features an Input Sensitivity control, letting you dial in the maximum headunit signal while keeping it below the distortion point.
Connections:
- Power & Ground: The amplifier features an attached 8" power & ground input harness consisting of 10-gauge wire terminated in a Molex plug. An additional 5' power & ground harness attaches to this and gets run to the vehicle battery. The amp's 8" power wire includes an inline 15A ATO fuse, and the 5' extension includes an additional inline 15A fuse for protection at the battery. The power and ground wires are terminated in 0.32" ring terminals.
- Speaker Level Input/Bypass: A 17" 8-pin harness provides the input channels, with connectors that plug directly into the factory radio output wiring. A 4-pin Bypass harness is attached, letting you jumper the input signal back out to additional amplifiers (sold separately) using the provided Input Link harness.
- Speaker Output: A 21" 4-pin output harness provides the connection to the Harley-Davidson factory front speaker wires.
